Boston University Crowned Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Champions (5.8.22)

BOSTON – Boston University was crowned the Patriot League men’s lacrosse champion on Sunday for the first time in program history with a 14-10 win against No. 2 Army West Point at Nickerson Field in Boston, Mass.

BU junior attack Louis Perfetto was named the Patriot League Championship Most Valuable Player at the conclusion of the championship.

The Terriers received the League’s automatic berth to the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship and will learn their opponent during the NCAA DI Men’s Lacrosse Championship Selection Show on Sunday, May 8 at 9 p.m. on ESPNU.

ARMY WEST POINT BLACK KNIGHTS (12-4, 6-2 PL) at BOSTON UNIVERSITY TERRIERS (12-4, 7-1 PL)

BOSTON – The Boston University Terriers captured their first Patriot League Men’s Lacrosse Championship in program history with a 14-10 win over No. 2 Army West Point.

* BU went on a four-goal run to increase their lead to 12-7 going into the final period. Army senior attack Brendan Nichtern snapped BU’s run with a goal at the 12:35 mark in the fourth quarter.

* Senior attack Timmy Ley paced BU with four goals and one assist.

* Junior attack Louis Perfetto, senior attack Matt Hilburn and sophomore attackmen James Corcoran and Tommy Bourque all scored two goals apiece.

* Junior attack Vince D’Alto and junior midfielder Donnie Howard added one goal in the win.

* BU goalkeeper Matt Garber collected 15 saves for a .600 save percentage.

* Army junior midfielder Reese Burek led the team with five goals. Nichtern finished with two goals and four assists.

* Senior midfielders Bobby Abshire, Matt Horace and Danny Kielbasa all added one goal.

* Freshman faceoff specialist Will Coletti went 18-for-27 at the ‘X’ with eight ground balls.

* Army goalkeeper Wyatt Schupler made 12 saves.
