James Wiseman injury update: Warriors optimistic center can return during NBA Summer League

The Warriors have taken the cautious approach with the rehab of 2020 No. 2 overall pick James Wiseman, but the young center now has a targeted date for his return.

According to a report from Shams Charania and Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Wiseman received a plasma injection in London and is nearing clearance for full contact, adding “optimism” around a return during the upcoming Summer League.

The report comes as the Warriors are in pursuit of their fourth NBA title in eight seasons as they meet the Celtics in the 2022 NBA Finals.

Golden State sorely misses the interior presence of Wiseman, who last played in an NBA game in April of 2021. Here is the latest on Wiseman’s injury.
