Jyoti Lokhande-Gaware scored 51.67% in the Maharashtra HSC board examination. She is a mother of two and had resumed the course of her studies, on the insistence of her late husband. However, Jyoti’s life had an unfortunate turn of events, after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Her husband, Sachin, passed away due to the virus.
Hailing from the neighbourhood of Pimple Gurav, Pune, Jyoti resumed her school education after her husband’s death. She appeared for her Class 12th examination while enrolled in a night school. Despite facing a mountain of obstacles, Jyoti Lokhande was determined to pass her Maharashtra HSC examination.

Upon talking to the regional newspapers, Jyoti said that her husband’s memory inspired her to keep studying diligently. She took care of her two children, her elderly mother-in-law and her sister-in-law, who is differently-abled. Jyoti claimed that she wanted to be an inspiration for her two children.
After her husband passed away a year ago, Jyoti had to take over the financial responsibility of the family as well. She learned how to sew and has, since, started making a livelihood out of it. Jyoti Lokhande’s story is a clear reflection of determination of achieving one’s goal.
The pandemic presented several obstacles in the lives of many. Jyoti’s story is an example of how people overcame those difficulties and rose above them all. The Maharashtra HSC results is a hope for a brighter future for her.
