Maharashtra HSC Result 2022: Mother of two who lost husband to Covid-19 beats all odds

On June 8, 2022, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) announced the Maharashtra HSC Result 2022 for Class 12 students. Along with the outcome, the stories of the achievers’ resilience have gone viral, inspiring many others.

Jyoti Lokhande, a student who sat for the Maharashtra HSC Exam 2022 for Class 12, is one such example. In the Maharashtra HSC board exam, Jyoti Lokhande-Gaware received a score of 51.67%. She is a mother of two children and had continued her education at her late husband’s request.


Jyoti Lokhande had left her studies several years ago but decided to pick up her books again at her husband’s motivation.

However, after the Covid-19 pandemic struck, Jyoti’s life however took an awful turn. Sachin, her husband, died from the virus.

Gathering her wits, Jyoti, who grew up in the Pimple Gurav neighbourhood of Pune, returned to school when her husband died.

She enrolled in a night school and appeared for the Maharashtra HSC Exam 2022. Despite a slew of challenges, Jyoti Lokhande was adamant on passing her Class 12 board exam.


In the subjects of Marathi, accounts, and management, Jyoti Lokhande received a 63 out of 100. Locals are praising the mother of two for her unwavering spirit.

Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad shared her story in a tweet, while commenting on the “courage and resilience of our students”.


Jyoti told local press that her husband’s memories encouraged her to keep learning.

She looked after her two children, her elderly mother-in-law, and her differently-abled sister-in-law, all the while preparing for the Class 12 board exams.

Jyoti stated that she wished to serve as an example to her two children.

Jyoti had to take over the family’s financial responsibilities after her husband passed away a year ago. She learned to sew and has since turned it into a source of income.

The Covid-19 pandemic posed a number of challenges in many people’s lives. Jyoti’s tale exemplifies how people fought adversity and triumphed over it all and now looks towards a brighter future.
