Mitchell Moses drop, Matt Burton tackle, Eels loss, Bulldogs win, Round 14 highlights, Matt Burton kicking, Josh Addo-Carr, Parramatta Eels, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs

The game was all but over when Mitchell Moses broke through the middle of the Bulldogs defensive line, slowing down as he neared the tryline with the score sitting at 28-4.

But not for Matt Burton — who made a huge effort to smack the ball out of his rivals hands in a show of desire and passion missing within the Canterbury-Bankstown side in recent months.

The moment didn’t just serve as an embarrassing mistake from a normally experienced and clinical player, it outlined the Eels utter disastrous performance in Round 14.

The Parramatta side were completely outclassed by the Bulldogs, who sat in last place coming into the clash.

“That might some things up for the Eels here today,” Warren Smith said as the ball came loose.

“Matt Burton, just capping off what has been a five star performance this afternoon, that is great desperation,” Michael Ennis said.

“Boy didn’t they enjoy that, Matt Burton knocking the arm of Moses,” Smith added.

After that moment, the Bulldogs went on to score again with a full field effort which was finished off the boot of Burton.

Averillo then surged onto the ball to score his second.

“Get the party started, they are dancing in the grand stands, the Bulldogs have taken down the Parramatta Eels,” Smith said.

“What a display it has been off the boot of Burton,” Ennis said.

“The Bulldogs, 34 points, can you believe it… from a side that was averaging just 12, and they have had to work hard to get 12 some days, we haven’t seen this in years.”

“It is only the third time in the last four years that the Bulldogs have scored more than 30 points,” Smith revealed.

Post-match Eels coach Brad Arthur didn’t pull any punches, labelling the performance as ‘embarrassing’.

“I’m just very disappointed,” Arthur said.

“I’m disappointed as a club today in both grades, we had 34 players that didn’t own their jobs so we need to get back to focusing on 1-17 in both grades doing their jobs.

“We didn’t do it, we didn’t come with any hunger, any want and any desire. Credit to the opposition, they just wanted it more, they were more desperate… it’s embarrassing.”
