Full 2022 NCAA Men’s Golf Regional selections
SAN FRANCISCO – Seven Pac-12 Men’s Golf programs will compete in 2022 NCAA Regional competition from May 16-18 seeking advancement to the national championship hosted by ARIZONA STATE.
All four of the Pac-12’s top-seeded teams will stay in the league footprint as Arizona State received the No. 1 seed to the Stockton Regional to be played at The Reserve at Spanos Park. The Sun Devils will be joined by Pac-12 champion and No. 2 seed WASHINGTON, No. 3 seed STANFORD and No. 5 seed OREGON in Stockton, Calif.
No. 6 seed ARIZONA and No. 10 seed OREGON STATE are headed to Bryan, Texas and Texas A&M’s Traditions Club, while No. 9 seed UTAH will travel to the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla.
Along with the seven teams, three individuals were selected to compete at Regionals – COLORADO’s Justin Biwer, UCLA’s Eddy Lai and USC’s Jackson Rivera.
Six 54-hole regional tournaments will be conducted May 16-18. Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on those teams will compete at each of three regionals while the other three regionals will have 14 teams and five individuals not on those teams. The top five teams and the low individual not on those teams from each regional will advance to the 2022 NCAA Men’s Golf Championships hosted by Arizona State at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., from May 27-June 1.
The 30 teams advancing to the NCAA Championships will compete in 72 holes of stroke play, crowning an individual national champion at that junction, with the top eight teams advancing to a match-play tournament.
Since adjusting to a team match-play format in 2009, the Pac-12 is tied with the Big 12 with a national-best 23 team match-play participants. Additionally, the Conference has produced a title match participant in four of the last six events, including a pair of national champions (Oregon 2016, Stanford 2019), and 10 semifinalists.
